Mr. Engr. A.F.M. Ishaque was born in a respectable Muslim family of Chittagong on 24th January 1948. He obtained Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology under University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 1969. He took training on ‘Advanced Petroleum Refining’ in INA Refinery, Yugoslavia in 1976-77, Project Implementation Course in PSI Houston, USA in 1982, High level training on “Refinery Operations and Management” conducted by IPEDEX, France in 1987, QCM Training Course under AOTS in Osaka, Japan. He also participated in many professional courses and seminars in the country. He was a regular speaker in the BPC training center.
Mr. Ishaque has long time experience in various professional sectors and entitled to a high profile individual. Mr. Ishaque started his career as government officer. He served as Erection Engineer of EPIDC Groundnut Oil Mills, Mymensingh in 1970. He spent most of his career working in different vital positions in the Eastern Refinery Limited from 1971-2002. At that time he served as DGM (Engineering & Services), Engineer I/C, Operation Manager, DGM (Operation & Planning), Operation Engineer, Development Engineer, In-Charge of Fire & Safety Department in Eastern Refinery Limited. He also served as Managing Director & Chief Executive in Eastern Refinery Limited in 2002-04. Thereafter he served as Director (Marketing) & Director (Operation & Planning) in Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation in 2004-06, Director in Padma Oil Company Limited in 2005-07, Director in Meghna Petroleum Limited in 2008-10. He has more experience as Project Director/Manager in the capacity of Chief Operation Officer of various projects viz. LPG Sweetening Plant of Eastern Refinery Limited, Crude Oil Distillation Column, 2 Nos. of Dolphin Oil Jetties namely RM-5 & RM-6.
Further he participated in overseas delegation viz. Member of BPC delegation to Kuwait to finalize the petroleum import deal between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) in the year 2006, Member of high-level delegation from BPC on behalf of Ministry of Energy, Govt. of Bangladesh to India to finalize the deal regarding oil import from Bharat Petroleum Corporation, India in the year 2006. He also served as Consultant for Planning & Designing of a condensate fractionation plant covering all aspects in Berger Bangladesh Limited, Dhaka in 2008. Currently he is an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of CVO Petrochemical Refinery Limited. He is also the Chairperson of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee of the Board of Directors of this Company.
For attaining professional skills, experience and training Mr. Ishaque visited various countries viz. UK, USA, Germany, Russia, Yugoslavia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong (PRC), Japan, Singapore and Kuwait.
Mr. Ishaque contributed as a social & welfare worker of Chittagong metropolitan area like Founder Secretary of Patenga City Corporation Girls High Scholl & College, Ex. Vice President of Paharika Lions Club, Chittagong, Patron of Patenga Senior Islamia Alia Madrasa, Two terms Chairman of Eastern Refinery Model High School, Two terms Chairman of Patenga High School, Chittagong, Founder of Delipara Govt. Primary School, South Patenga, Chittagong, Founder Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Officers Federation.
